Postcard From Austin #2 – Saturday September 17

Maybe the best weather ever for a day at ACL Fest: cloudy for most of the day, a brief rain shower (which was applauded) then sunny for the late afternoon and early evening. It was said to be 92F but that felt positively cool!

James Blake was outstanding with what they labelled as ‘dub step.’ Beautiful at times (though man wearing Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt said ‘this sucks’ as he walked away).

Gary Clark Jr put in a blistering set on the small BMI stage. Please get this young blues guy to a festival in Australia! Charles Bradley was fabulous and seemed to be channeling Otis. Mavis Staples was inspirational.

Dinner at El Meson on South Lamar. Flautas de carne as entree, then enchiladas as main. Great. US$21 (including a beer).
