With only a month to go until we arrive in Memphis I thought it timely to start making some regular updates.
Shortly, I shall put some hints on the site for those going to Memphis and Jazz Fest for the first time but here is some recent info.
I welcome any hints from previous tour-goers! So if you have any clues please let me know.
Etta James
The tickets to Etta James at The House of Blues are now on sale and if you want to go you should buy them now.
Don’t forget to check ‘International Will Call’ as your method of collection. This means you can pick up the tickets at the HOB box office when you get there. You must bring the cerdit card you used to place the order and some form of ID.
The Dollar
Many people are predicting parity for the dollar but I am not going to risk waiting. With the Oz dollar back near the 0.93 mark I will get some US dollars this week, just in case.
I don’t use travel cheques anymore but prefer to take a modest amount of cash and then pay for everything with my credit cards, which I put some money on before I go.
If you withdraw cash while you are over there you could incur a fee of up to US$3.75 per withdrawal unless you use an ATM from a US bank affilitade with your bank. You can find out the info by checking with your bank.
American Express has a facility called Express cash which can be linked to your bank account meanming you only need to take your AMEX card. If I recall correctly, AMEX cards do not incur the same 2% extra charge in the USA that they incur here.
